Salon and barbershop customers were stuck in the worst kind of friction: calling repeatedly to check availability, waiting in physical queues for an hour, then getting bumped because a walk-in had arrived first. Shop owners had no fair way to manage walk-ins, no way to optimize stylist utilisation, and no way to recover from a no-show.
QueBooking needed a two-sided marketplace — but it could not feel like one. Customers needed a consumer-grade app that just worked; shops needed a business dashboard that respected their existing workflows. The hard part was the real-time layer connecting them.
Our approach
We split the platform into two surfaces — user.quebooking.com for customers and shop.quebooking.com for businesses — joined by a real-time token system that any device could trust.
The user app went mobile-first via React Native (iOS + Android) plus a responsive web build. The shop dashboard went web-first on Next.js — shop managers work on a counter screen, not a phone.
The token system is the architectural heart. Every action — booking, cancellation, queue advance, no-show — emits a typed event over WebSockets. Both apps reconcile against the same source of truth in real time. We rehearsed every failure mode (lost connection, double-bookings, clock skew) before launch.
The solution
AI-powered slot suggestions based on past visits, peak-hour patterns, and the customer’s preferred stylist.
7-day advance booking with smart limits — max 2 active bookings per user — to keep the queue healthy.
Live token tracking with push notifications: “You’re next” alerts arrive 5 minutes before the chair is free.
Nearby salon discovery with location-aware availability — only show shops with realistic openings.
Ratings and reputation system per shop, plus stylist-level profile pages for repeat bookings.
Business dashboard for managing stylists, services, working hours, and the live queue.
TechNboost shipped the platform we’d been trying to build for two years. The real-time piece is the thing — once you’ve seen a customer get a ‘you’re next’ push on their phone five minutes before the chair opens up, you can’t go back to calling salons to ask about wait times.
